Are you looking for more ways to get involved with SFHC?
Can you help reach our goal of serving 100 families in 2025
Do you ever have one of those weekends you wish could last forever? That’s exactly how we felt yesterday as we reflected on our third Secret Families Day! We were definitely a bit bleary-eyed from the excitement, but our cups were overflowing as we witnessed over 500 cheerful volunteers up bright and early to serve their local neighbors in need. There was a certain magic in the air – we’re pretty sure it was the Christmas spirit – that we wish we could bottle up and keep with us all year long!
Saturday was yet another record-breaking day for SFHC. We served almost 400 individuals and 81 FAMILIES across every one of our school districts. These families received presents, trees, food certificates and essential items that will make a meaningful impact on their lives. But most importantly, we collectively demonstrated unconditional love for our neighbors and provided joy and hope during a season of their lives where they desperately need it. In our eyes, that is the true gift.
Whether you volunteered, donated, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, you played an important role in making this day a success. Serving others is a powerful way to bring joy into our own lives, and we hope that your cup was filled as well. And with the growth of our event, there’s always a need for more hands on deck in the months leading up to next year’s big day. If you're interested in getting involved, click here to fill out our interest form and learn about exciting volunteer opportunities throughout the year!
As you continue celebrating the Christmas season with your loved ones, we hope you carry with you the memory of the joy you helped create – whether it’s a child receiving that special gift they’ve been hoping for or a parent feeling relief knowing they can provide for their family. Every small act of kindness, like a tiny mustard seed, can grow into something beautiful and life-changing.
Lastly, we always want Secret Families Day to be a positive experience for everyone involved, so if you have any feedback or suggestions on how we can make it even better, please don’t hesitate to reach out at info@secretfamilieshc.org. We welcome your thoughts, big or small!
On behalf of the entire Secret Families team, we’re humbled by your support. Can’t wait to see you next year!
We are looking for financial sponsors or in-kind donations for our 2025 event

Secret Families of Hamilton County has been helping families since 2014. Our families are referred from local schools throughout Hamilton County. On the second Saturday of December, hundreds of volunteers shop, wrap and deliver presents to the family, along with Bibles, a Christmas tree, toiletries, and a Meijer gift card for Christmas dinner
In December of 2004, our friends Chris and Al Holdren decided not to buy presents for each other and instead use this money to buy presents and tree for a family in need. 21 years later The Holdrens support 400 families annually in their Delaware County community and have helped launch divisions in six other Indiana counties, including Hamilton in 2014.
It costs approximately $550 to support each family referred to us. Would your family or small group consider sponsoring a family instead of buying each other presents? Or would you consider making Secret Families your holiday donation of choice, with your own funds or together with friends or neighbors? Any amount will help!
